Hi de hi campers,
You'll be glad to hear at last we've had a bit of rain here, sustaining the land's vibrant wash of multi-green. Have just been delivered back to Auckland after a fabulous week up in Northland with Zoe (bristol connection) and Dwayne (her kiwi man).
Wow what a space. Rolling green hills scattered with animules of recognisable type and size shaded by mature trees to cast long shadows in the haze of the summer afternoon (we had quite a few hazy 'happy hours' over the last week!) The backdrop of sea always peeping out behind hills to finish the perfect image of countryside heaven... Reminds me that i'm a coun'ry girl at heart. Have dreamed up all sorts of lives involving chickens and pigs and cows and vegetables and ......... I'm sure some of it's possible. Yes admitedly it could get a bit isolated out there and ... my main concern... there is no pub culture!! but i think i could get over that with a few long dinners with friends on huge verandahs looking over the misty greenness.
You've got to have a dream eh?
(note to self, be more aware of saying 'eh' at the end of everything, you've only been here 2 weeks!)
Anyway, We drove around Northland in a camper (well a van anyway). Zoe and Dwayne entertained me on another of their 4 day weekends (they have the work/life balance sorted!). We explored coastal villages, maori inlets, unsealed (dirt) roads with horses and cows both sides of the fence and dwellings tucked in and on the greenness. We camped out on the side of the road waking to fresh air and river inlets, ate lots of sandwiches and consumed a steady supply of alcoholic beverages. The burnout was amazing - see blog (www.activelyblonde.blogspot.com)
have to get off free library computer now... time doth fly.
