Have just had the most wonderful 10 days wwoofing on a dairy farm near Hamilton in the North Island. Learnt how to attach sucking cups to the largest nipples i've ever seen without getting shat on from a great height... absolutely brilliant. I'm sure the novelty would wear off if i had to get up at 5 o clock every day and milk 150 cows but to have a go for a few days at a leisurely 4pm was great. Never realised quite how amusing cows are, following the leader, plodding and eating all day (no comments please!)
